From Elder, to Teina

Hey, everyone! I got a really cool letter from Elder Hazleton the other day.

"D&C 136:31 is a new one I like. It makes me just think about faith.It makes things possible; not easy. 'My people must be tried in all things, that they may be prepared to receive the glory that I have for them, even the glory of Zion; and he that will not bear chastisement is not worthy of my kingdom.'

(My spelling sucks, but...) Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are who I look up to as far as faith goes. Look it up. Put in the Fiery furriness because they wouldn't worship   fake gods. what they say before is AWEsome! 'our God will deliver us, but if not... oh well. We do it anyways. What did our God do? Sent an ANGEL and let no harm be done to them. What now, King?"

June 3rd Update!

So the past few weeks have been a little slower then we want it to be, but we have gotten some great lessons in, and even better, some referrals! The ZL’s (zone leaders) sent us to a rehab center where a lady had gotten a hip replacement. Before going in her friend, who is a member, asked if she would feel OK with the Elders giving her a blessing. She said “absolutely”. The ZL's were the ones who first met her and gave her to us the other day (she lives in our ward, actually on our street). Jan Blood is 59 years old and told us that once she is out of the rehab center she needs to get going to church. She committed to baptism.

James is a guy we have been working with for a few weeks now who actually came and found us. His baptismal date is the 22nd, and the 23rd he gets the gift of the Holy Ghost. Well on the night of the 23rd we get transfer calls so it’s cool to know that I started teaching him and I’ll see him get baptized before I might leave. Those are a few of the miracles that happened last week.

January 11

It's a good thing Justin Wright (called to NY NY South, Spanish speaking mission) put his papers in when he did. I hear that the wait now is about 4 months just to see where you're going. Oh, we had a baptism the other day. Her name is Annalise. She is almost 11 and we love going over to that house because the mom is like our mom and it’s great. Things are going good we have a lot of service projects for this week so I'm happy about it. I'm going to the doctor's this afternoon to get my wrist checked. Sunday is transfer call, and I hope I leave and get a shot gun area (It's like opening an area where both me and my new companion have never been to that area and starting the area over brand new, basically.) I love you all!

Blake

The story behind the card: Blake is a guy that turned his life around....long story, but he's out of jail and is clean (drugs). He is an Amazing person. Last week we went over to talk with him and we had a good talk. After that talk the Spirit was strong enough that Blake was like, "I want to knock on some doors." So we did. And he figured because we do service and many people don't know that we do, he figured that it would be an ice breaker if we get our number out to everyone. (Please don't try calling!) He thinks our phone will be getting calls all the time and that's why Blake made the cards.

"News of Today"

Hey,

I just want to tell everyone that things are going great. The ward is feeding us well and giving us some good work. The other day, we did a service project and it took a few days to do. The guy we did it for has heart problems and couldn’t do it himself. So I know you’re wondering what we did for this guy. Well... think of Kevin's house (Mr.). You know how he had all of that gravel put in around his house? Well, we had about half the rock he put in, but all of it was Pea Gravel, and we had to cut some stumps out and move rocks...the whole 9 yards. It made me think of working for Fritz a little. But with Fritz, he and Brad would have helped move the rock and do some of the hard work. It was the grunt of the work.

It’s a little cold here, but not as bad as back at home. From what I hear, its beautiful during the day, but when that sun goes down, it’s not so. There are some crazy people down in the ghetto and some nice people everywhere.

Well, I’ve got to go, but I thought I would tell everyone that I love them and hope everything is going great. Thanks for all the support.
